School loans are discharged in bankrupcy, they may get refinanced, but you still owe.  Bankruptcy isn&#039;t easy anymore, you will have to meet criteria and try to attempt to make payments.  

Plus declaring bankruptcy does ***** with your credit and you pay higher for everything.</description>

Your financial advisers are idiots.
Student loans are *not* discharged in bankruptcy.
Student loan companies paid off Congress to do this.

They will come after your grandmother for the money if you declare bankruptcy.  That is the whole point of co-signing, they have a second person to come after if the first one doesn&#039;t pay up.</description>
